Via the Lemosho route, you will manage to climb to the top in 6 days, although it is possible to tailor it to suit your preferences.

Duration: 7 days
Tour Type: Trekking / Mountain Camps

Route Itinerary
Day 1: Starting point (2,300m) - Mti Mkubwa Camp (2,750m)
After breakfast in your hotel, you will be transferred to Londorossi Gate, a 3-hour drive from Moshi, ready to start your trekking. You will walk through different vegetations where Black and White Colobus Monkeys may peer down from the high trees. Your trekking will lead you to Mti Mkubwa Camp for dinner and accommodation.
Day 2: Mti Mkubwa (2,750m) - Shira Camp 1 (3,550m)
After breakfast at Mti Mkubwa camp, you continue with your trekking. You will walk through the heather and moorland zone – an arid landscape sprinkled with contrasting silver fauna and flora as well as the enormous lobelias. On a clear day, the Mt. Meru and the Kibo Peak can be seen. Your trekking will lead you to Shira camp 1 for dinner and accommodation.
Day 3: Shira Camp 1 (3,550m) - Shira Camp 2 (3,840m)
After breakfast at Shira Camp 1, you continue with your trekking on flat paths. You will enjoy the scenic views of the towering mountain. A steaming hot lunch will be served at Shira Camp 2 and after the short excursions for acclimatisation are complete, you will rest for the rest of the day. Dinner and accommodation will be at Shira Camp 2.

Day 4: Shira Camp 2 (3,840m) - Barranco camp (3,950m) via Lava Tower
After breakfast at Shira Camp 2, you continue with your trekking to where the Lemosho route connects with the Machame route before approaching Lava Tower. You will walk trough the mysterious shadow valleys where you will come across the protruding Lava tower, which means you will be following the mountaineering principles of walking high and sleeping low, making it an ideal acclimation day. Your trekking will lead you to Barranco Camp for dinner and accommodation.

Day 5: Barranco Camp (3,950m) - Barafu Camp (4,700)
After breakfast at Barranco Camp, you continue with your trekking. You will walk through the moderate trek up the Barranco Wall. It is steep, the climbing requires your hands and feet for a short period (200m). The trail begins to fluctuate as you cross various small streams and the Karanga River that excitedly hops over the rocks. You will stop at the Karanga Campsite for an appetising lunch before continuing to Barafu Camp for dinner and accommodation.
Day 6: Barafu Camp (4,700m) - Summit (5895m) - Mweka Camp (3100m)
This is a day where attempts to reach the top point of Kilimanjaro will be made. The attempt begins in the wee hours of the morning while the ice screen is still frozen. Sixteen hours are needed to complete the trek which means this is the most taxing day on the Lemosho route. You will pass the glowing Rebmann and Ratzel glaciers upon reaching Uhuru Peak.

After successfully reaching the peak, you will have time to appreciate the moment of being on top of Africa and taking some memory pictures before you start the descent to Barafu Camp, for a hot, steaming breakfast, before descending to Mweka Camp for dinner and accommodation.
Day 7: Mweka Camp (3,100m) - Mweka Gate (1,800m) - Moshi
After breakfast at Mweka Camp, you will continue to descend towards Mweka gate. The Arona Safari transporting car will be waiting to take you back to your hotel in Moshi or Arusha, depending on your further plans, for a shower and a goodbye meal.
