Marangu Route
This route is the easiest and the shortest route to the peak, it is also the most comfortable one as there are proper sleeping huts with comfortable beds at every campsite. The campsites are powered by solar panels which provide lights.
This route will expose you to the very diverse nature of Kilimanjaro. In good weather, you will be able see the top of Mount Meru - the second largest mountain in Tanzania and the fifth highest mountain peak of Africa. Via the Marangu route, you will manage to climb to the top in 5 days, although it is possible to tailor it to suit your preferences.

Route Itinerary
Day 1: Marangu Gate (1980m) - Mandara hut (2700m)
After breakfast in your hotel, you will be transferred to Marangu gate ready to start your trekking which will lead you to the Mandara hut for dinner and accommodation.
Day 2: Mandara Hut (2700m) - Horombo Hut (3720m)
After breakfast at Mandara hut, you continue with your trekking. You pass through the alpine - meadow. The altitude begins to change and slow down your pace while enjoying the view of Mawenzi and Kibo peaks. Your trekking will lead you to Horombo hut for dinner and accommodation.
Day 3: Horombo Hut (Acclimatization Day)
After breakfast at Horombo hut, you continue with your trekking. You will pass through the Zebra rocks and then back to the Horombo hut. This is a scheduled extra day and night at Horombo hut for the purpose of additional acclimatization. We recommend that you drink enough water and slow walking. Your trekking will lead you back to Horombo hut for dinner and accommodation.
Day 4: Horombo Hut (3720m) - Kibo Hut (4700m)
After breakfast at Horombo hut, you continue with your trekking. You will pass through the landscape that becomes rugged and rocky. Lobelias, a subtropical plant of the bellflower’s family, will begin to appear. Your trekking will lead you to Kibo hut for dinner and accommodation.
Day 5: Kibo Hut (4700m) - Uhuru Peak (5895m) - Horombo Hut (3720m)
This is a day where attempts to reach the top point of Kilimanjaro will be made. The attempt will begin in the wee hours of the morning while the ice screen is still frozen. After successfully reaching the peak, you will have time to appreciate the moment of being on top of Africa and taking some souvenir pictures before you start the descent to Horombo hut for dinner and accommodation.
Day 6: Horombo Hut (3720m) - Marangu Gate (1980m)
After breakfast at Horombo hut, you will continue to descend towards Marangu gate. The Arona Safari transporting car will be waiting to take you back to your hotel in Moshi or Arusha, depending on your further plans, for a shower and a goodbye meal.
