Route Itinerary
Day 1: Moshi / Arusha - Miriakamba Huts (2514m)
After breakfast in your hotel, you will be transferred to the Arusha National Park to start your trekking. You will walk across Arusha NP where different kinds of animals and birds might be visible. Your trekking will lead you to the Miriakamba Huts for dinner and accommodation.
Day 2: Miriakamba Huts (2514m)- Saddle Huts (3500m)
After breakfast at Miriakamba Huts, you will have a short hike of around 6km at which you may be lucky to spot an elephant or a few zebras towards the Mgongo Wa Tembo (Elephant Ridge). When you walk across the scenery, you can note the changes into alpine dessert as you ascend to the Saddle Huts for dinner and accommodation.
Day 3: Saddle huts (3500m)- Socialist Peak (4566m) – Miriakamba Huts (2514m)
At midnight, after tea and snacks, you start climbing steeply, leaving behind the larger bushy vegetation and coming out onto the rocky ridge to reach Rhino Point. The hike will continue towards the Cobra Point before reaching the Socialist Peak – the summit. After successfully reaching the summit, you will have time to appreciate the moment, taking some memory pictures and enjoy the sunrise before you start the descent to the Saddle Huts. Upon reaching the Saddle Huts, you will be served a hot lunch and get some rest before descending to the Miriakamba Huts for dinner and accommodation.
Day 4: Miriakamba Huts (2514m) - Momela Gate (1500m)
After breakfast at Miriakamba Huts, you will continue descending towards the Momela Gate.
The Arona Safari transporting car will be waiting to take you back to your hotel in Moshi or Arusha, depending on your further plans, for a shower and a goodbye meal.
