Mikumi National Park
Location: 283 km west of Dar es Salaam, north of Selous, and en route to Ruaha and Udzungwa National Parks
Coverage: 3,230 sqkm

The Mikumi National Park is the fourth largest national park in Tanzania, it is located between the Uluguru Mountains and the Lumango range which makes it close to Selous national park, and en-route to Ruaha and Udzungwa national park.

The Mikumi NP guarantees a variety of wildlife and nature as close as the parks of Northern circuit. Mikumi NP is ideal for guests with limited time but who still like to explore nature close to the business city of Dar Es Salaam. Mikumi is only a few hours from Dar Es Salaam, which makes it convenient to combine with Bagamoyo or Zanzibar beach holidays.

What to see in Mikumi
  • Big Five – cheetah, lion, elephant, buffalo, and rhino
  • Hippos
  • Herd of zebras
  • Wildlife of the Mkata Floodplain – which is similar to the more famous Serengeti Plains
  • More than 300 bird species have been recorded in Mikumi
